Are you taking advantage of this month’s special eating out deals?
An estimated 500–plus outlets in Suffolk, many of them independent small businesses, are believed to be participating in the Government’s scheme Eat Out to Help Out.
Designed to help the hospitality sector, the scheme, which is currently only for August, allows you to get 50% up to a value of £10 off food and non-alcoholic drinks, in participating restaurants bills on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
It’s a scheme a number of our clients have been taking advantage of along with using our service to transport them to the venues in comfort and safety.
To help you find participating independent restaurants, the EADT recently published a searchable map.
It has been estimated that nationally the scheme was used more than 10.5 million times in its first week, the Treasury has said.
It says that 83,068 restaurants had signed up to the scheme.
They include fast-fast food chains like McDonald’s and KFC as well as lots of local, independent pubs, restaurants and cafes but applies only for food and soft drinks eaten on the premises, so it does not apply to takeaways.
There is no limit on how many times the discount can be used in August, or for how many people, including children.
Even if you are not using the scheme but are pining for a meal out after months of lockdown self-catering and would like a chance to meet with friends, albeit there are limits to numbers and households, we are happy to drive you to your “date” in safety and comfort.
