We have been receiving bookings for airport transfers for later in the year as people start to book their holidays.

However, the advice from the Government remains that it is still far too early to say when it will be safe to travel abroad.

Here’s a summary of the current restrictions in England regarding foreign travel:

At the moment it is illegal to travel internationally without a valid reason, at least until 17 May and those who do need to travel have to fill in a declaration form, to be carried at all times to say why their journey is essential.

There are also currently travel bans on 33 countries “where the risk of a new variant is greatest and travellers can only enter the UK at five airports:

  • Heathrow
  • Gatwick
  • London City
  • Birmingham
  • Farnborough Airfield

They must also quarantine in a hotel at a cost of £1,750 per passenger travelling alone, to cover transport, tests, food and accommodation.

As yet, it is unclear what documentation other countries will require from travellers, although most are requiring evidence of a negative Covid test and some are considering so-called “vaccine passports”.

While it is understandable that people tired of the restrictions of lockdown are desperate for something to look forward to, it would be wise to check that travel insurance covers Covid-related delays or cancellations.

Here at STS, we are happy to take provisional bookings for your travel to and from the airport, and of course there will be no arguments over refunds if you find you have to cancel.
