Panto season will soon be here – Oh yes it will!

It is good to report that some traditions persist in an increasingly uncertain world and with the year-end looming it will soon be panto season.

We have a round-up of the main offerings across Suffolk and in Norwich.

Ipswich Regent

Peter Pan will be the star attraction at the Regent from 16 – 31 December. Note under 14s to be accompanied by fully paying adult.

Ipswich Wolsey

24 November to Sat 28 January

Trust the Wolsey to be a little different! Its cast of panto characters will include Dame Belinda Bigtop’s circus troupe including ringmaster, Tommy Topper, Bobo the Clown and Ali the Aerialist. Her circus is facing competition from Wilberforce T. Whippum, and his two sidekicks Flog’em and Fleece’em where acts include Dexter the dancing dromedary and Goldilocks and The Three Bears.

Will Belinda Bigtop be able to fend of a buy-out by her rivals?

Felixstowe Spa Pavilion

23 December to 2 January

Back to more traditional fare with Snow White from the Dennis Lowe Theatre Company, although, be warned there will be a naughtier adult version on Friday 30 December!

Bury St Edmunds Theatre Royal

November 25, to January 14

Perhaps appropriate to the challenging financial times we are facing, the Theatre Royal’s panto will be Robin Hood.

Lowestoft Marina Theatre

14 December to 7 January

Jack and the Beanstalk and his magic beans will be on offer here.

Norwich Theatre Royal

10 December – 7 January

If you fancy a special treat and going a bit further afield, Jack and the Beanstalk will also be the panto here.

Among the cast will be Joe Tracini and comedian Rufus Hound will take on the role of King Nigel of Norwich.

If you want to take your mind off your worries and treat the kids there’s nothing like a good panto.
